According to The Sun, Ariana shared a video on Instagram where she, Dalton, and others were dancing in a Native American style and also making drumming sounds. This was offensive as they seemed to be laughing at the culture. They also appeared to be attempting to “summon a spirit.”

Ariana deleted the video after receiving many negative comments about it.

Fans weren’t happy with Ariana Grande and fans posted in a Reddit thread about the situation.

Reddit user kwind21 wrote, “I have been such a fan of Ari’s since 2013, I’ve literally listened to & watched everything that she’s done. I’m also a Native American and heavily involved in my culture. Seeing that video caught me completely off-guard. And the fact that she just deleted the post and is now going on as if nothing happened has made me very disappointed in her, especially as she has been vocal about minority rights in the past.”

Steven Thompson-Oakes, a fan of Ariana’s, posted on Instagram and talked about the video.

According to Pedestrian.tv, Steven wrote, “I have to be one of your #1 Indigenous fans and the Water Protector who you let speak to your audience, at your Dangerous Woman pre-show. The disrespect viewed in that video has made it clear, you all need to be educated on us Indigenous peoples and the diverse philosophy, ceremonies, languages, stories, and overall worldview each nation has and continue to preserve and revitalize. We are still here, still singing our songs, dancing to those songs, and preserving our culture that our ancestors did long ago, even when they were targeted and criminalized for it.”

This wasn’t the first time that people talked about Ariana Grande and cultural appropriation. According to Buzzfeed, Ariana got a tattoo of “7 Rings” in Japanese Kanji. The tattoo actually means “Japanese BBQ finger” because the translation was “shichirin” which is a Japanese grill.

When fans were upset about this and wondered why Ariana would do this, Ariana tweeted, “I can’t read or write Kanji obviously,” she wrote in response to a person who said she should apologise for the mistake. “What do you want me to do? It was done out of love and appreciation. What do you want me to say?”

Ariana also commented that many people wouldn’t respond or “care” about anything other than the appearance of the tattoo.

Ariana also got into some trouble when, according to Cheat Sheet, she took pictures where her clothing, hair, and makeup made her resemble a K-Pop singer and made people wonder if she was “Asianfishing.”
