Ariana Grande has sold millions of albums, earned a ton of hit singles, and is even set to star in the upcoming film adaptation of the musical Wicked. She has proved herself to be one of the best singers of her generation.

One particularly memorable moment where Grande’s vocal talent impressed viewers was her 2018 Carpool Karaoke segment with James Corden. The appearance featured Grande and Corden singing along to many of her hits and has racked up over 89 million views.

A love of musical theater is something Grande has become known for. When she made her first Carpool Karaoke appearance, it was alongside Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane. The two appeared in the Apple Music series of the same name.

During a preview clip posted to YouTube, the duo sang the song “Suddenly, Seymour” from the Broadway hit Little Shop of Horrors. During the performance, there is a growing animated plant in the backseat.

At one point during the segment, MacFarlane hit the brakes abruptly, causing the car to jerk forward. This caused Grande to drop an F-bomb in shock. When it happened, neither Grande nor MacFarlane stopped singing.

“We almost died! But the belting was more important!” Grande joked. “I like that we didn’t skip a beat, that is what comes from being a theater person! You stay in it!”

Grande’s love of musical theater has led her to taking the role of Glinda in the upcoming film adaptation of the Broadway musical Wicked.

Ariana And James Corden Visited An Escape Room While Filming Her 2018 ‘Carpool Karaoke’ Segment

Grande returned for another Carpool Karaoke segment in 2018, this time with James Corden. However, while filming the segment, the duo stopped by the 60OUT Escape Rooms’ The Orphanage. This particular part of the segment was aired separately.

“I love being scared,” Grande revealed. “I think it’s so much fun.”

Grande also said that one of her favorite pastimes is visiting haunted houses.

“Usually escape rooms aren’t that scary, but I do love escape rooms,” Grande told Corden. “We should do one.”

“I’ve never done one,” Corden said. “I’d do one with you.”

However, once the two entered the escape room, Grande suddenly started to get really scared.

“Oh, it’s dark!” she yelled. “No, no, no, no, no!”

Then, the lights flickered and odd sounds began echoing through the hallways. This did nothing to calm Grande’s fears.

“You told me it was an escape room,” she said. “Oh, my God! What the f***?”

During their time in the first room, Grande and Corden held hands as they tried to find their way out.

“I don’t want to touch a person!” Grande said. “Is there a person in here?”

Corden then knocked, prompting a light to come on where he found a key on a rocking horse.

While they were in the next room, Grande said, “Oh, there’s beds. That’s not tight.”

As the two made their way into the next room, Grande decided to crawl into the fireplace to look for a clue.

“I’m gonna pass out,” she said. “I can’t do it.”

After Corden found the clue, they made their way into the next room. When they entered the final room, a man appeared and crawled towards them. This caused Grande to drop to the ground and hurt her hand.

“That was traumatic,” Grande said. “I’ve done 300 escape rooms. That’s not an escape room; that’s one of the seven gates to hell!”

Grande and Corden began the segment by singing her 2016 hit “Dangerous Woman.” Then, Grande told Corden that she has a Jaws-themed birthday party when she was only two years old.

“It’s weird in there, it’s weird in there man,” Grande said, pointing to her head.

Corden then said he once had an NSYNC-themed birthday party, joking, “You’re only 35 once.”

The two then sang “Side to Side.” Grande later revealed she was influenced by Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Destiny’s Child growing up.

“It took me a minute to find my own style because I was singing their songs so much growing up,” she revealed, before doing her impression of Dion.

Grande later revealed her dream role was Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors. She and Corden then sang “Suddenly, Seymour” together. This was the same song she sang with MacFarlane during her first Carpool Karaoke appearance.

Grande’s appearance was praised by the media and the public. The YouTube video has racked up over 89 million views.
