Gerard Piqué is “very happy” — and not apologizing — after his and Shakira’s breakup last year.

“I keep doing what I want,” the former professional soccer player told El Pais on Sunday.

“The day I die, I will look back and hope I have always done what I wanted,” he explained over the weekend. “I want to be faithful to myself.

“I’m not going to spend money cleaning up my image,” the 36-year-old continued. “There have been changes in my life and I have known how to preserve happiness.”

Piqué added that he is currently “focused on … protecting” sons Milan, 10, and Sasha, 8.

“Everyone has their responsibility to try to do what is best for their children,” the athlete said.

Piqué waited nine months to break his silence, with news breaking in June 2022 that he and Shakira, 46, called it quits after his alleged infidelity left the singer “devastated.”

Piqué didn’t go Instagram-official with his girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti, until January of the following year.

As for Shakira, the songwriter first spoke about the breakup in a September 2022 Elle interview, calling it “incredibly difficult” on their children.

“Regardless of how things ended or how Gerard and I feel about each other as ex-partners, he is the father of my children,” she noted at the time.

Shakira explained, “We have a job to do for these two incredible boys, and I have faith that we will figure out what is best for their future, their own dreams in life, and what is a fair solution for everyone involved.”

The Grammy winner has since shaded Piqué and his 24-year-old girlfriend in multiple songs, including “TQG” and “BZRP Music Session #53.”

In the former, Shakira sings about becoming “triple M” — “much hotter, much tougher [and] much lighter” — without Piqué in her life.
