Lady Gaga is receiving criticism for teaming up with Pfizer to promote the migraine drug Nurtec. Fans are expressing their disappointment with Gaga’s paid partnership, accusing her of selling out for money and calling the ad “cringey.”

One fan commented: “Girl, what happened to you? You used to say ‘I f-ing hate money’ in 2009.” Another fan questioned the authenticity of the partnership, asking: “Who’s doing this? How come our Mother Monster would do a sponsor for… [medicine]? This is insane.”

Some fans are also criticizing Gaga for not acknowledging Pride Month on her social media, considering her previous support for LGBTQIA+ rights. “It’s pride month, and you’re securing a brand deal with pain killers?”, one fan expressed their concern.

Lady Gaga is in the eye of the storm wih her fans.

The backlash began when Gaga, known for her hit song “Bad Romance,” announced her partnership with Nurtec on Instagram. She shared a photo of herself performing on stage with Nurtec’s logo displayed in the corner.

In the caption, she wrote: “Ever since childhood, I’ve dealt with migraine pain. When I tried Nurtec® ODT (rimegepant) 75 mg for the first time, I’ll never forget wishing I had found it sooner. That’s why I’m proud to partner with Nurtec ODT. We’re in this together.”

She shares her experience dealing with migraine

Gaga also appeared in a TV commercial for the drug, describing herself as an “actual patient.” She shared her experience performing through pain and highlighted how Nurtec ODT can help treat and prevent migraines.

While the response to the ad has been overwhelmingly negative, some supporters defended Gaga and pointed out her ongoing struggle with chronic illnesses. They reminded critics that Gaga has openly discussed her diagnosis with fibromyalgia, a condition causing severe pain that has forced her to cancel tours in the past.
