‘I’m sorry if my words will never be enough for everyone or a hashtag. I just can’t stand by innocent people getting hurt,’ the ‘Come & Get It’ singer wrote.

Selena Gomez returned to social media on Monday night, after taking a break, to address the state of the world.

In her Instagram Stories, the Only Murders in the Building star wrote, “I’ve been taking a break from social media because my heart breaks to see all the horror, hate, violence and terror that’s going on in the world,” without specifying if she was referring to the conflicts in the Middle East or Ukraine or both.

“People being tortured and killed or any act or hate towards any one group is horrific,” she added. “We need to protect ALL people especially children and stop the violence for good.”

Though the “Come & Get It” singer acknowledged that her words won’t likely make too much of a difference. “I’m sorry if my words will never be enough for everyone or a hashtag. I just can’t stand by innocent people getting hurt. That’s what makes me sick. I wish I could change the world. But a post won’t.” She signed off with, “Love, Selena.”

In her last post on Instagram, two weeks ago on World Mental Health Day, some commenters criticized Gomez for liking a “pro-Israel” post and not speaking up for those in Gaza.
