Shakira didn’t think she “was going to survive” when she found out Gerard Piqué “betrayed” her while her dad was in the ICU.

“He went to Barcelona to console me after I was consumed with sadness because of my separation,” the Grammy winner told People en Español of her father, William Mebarak Chadid, in her cover story published Monday.

Shakira, 46, explained that Chadid, 91, was “gravely injured” in a fall during her son Milan’s first communion.

“Everything happened at once,” she recalled. “My home was falling apart. I was finding out through the press that I had been betrayed while my dad was in the ICU.”

Shakira could not go to her dad, whom she considers her “best friend,” for the “advice [she] needed so much” at the time.

“The man I have loved the most in my life, my father, was leaving me when I needed him the most,” she shared.

Now that Chadid is recovering, the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer praised his “resilience” — as well as his long-lasting marriage to her mother, Nidia Ripoll Torrado.

“They have both been a reflection of that dream that didn’t come true for me. But I hope they are role models for my kids,” Shakira added of Milan, 10, and son Sasha, 8.

The Grammy winner gave birth to the little ones in 2013 and 2015, respectively.

She and the athlete, 36, have been co-parenting since announcing their breakup in June 2022 amid cheating rumors.

Shakira, who has since moved to Miami, has addressed the alleged infidelity in her music, singing in “TQG” that it “hurt[s]” to see Piqué with his girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti.

She has blasted the Manchester United player in interviews as well, telling Jimmy Fallon that she put up with “so much crap” while with her ex.

Piqué, for his part, has made it clear he is “happy” and “not apologizing” post-split.

“I keep doing what I want,” he told El Pais in March. “The day I die, I will look back and hope I have always done what I wanted. I want to be faithful to myself.”

While Piqué appears to still be going strong with Marti, posting their latest selfie in May, Shakira is reportedly in the early stages of dating F1 racer Lewis Hamilton.

The “flirty” dancer, who was spotted with the 38-year-old at the Miami Grand Prix last month, has yet to address romance rumors. Although she was also photographed with Tom Cruise, a source told Page Six she “will not romance” the actor.
