The Broadway veteran said he is on track to see the singer live on her ‘Renaissance’ tour five times
Jonathan Groff is a proud member of the Beyoncé hive.
Not only is he a massive fan, but the Frozen star explained on Monday’s episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show that watching the Crazy in Love singer perform live provides inspiration to keep dynamic his own performances in Broadway’s Merrily We Roll Along.
Groff, who stars in the Stephen Sondheim revival alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Lindsay Mendez, shared that he has seen the Renaissance Tour four times, and already has tickets for a fifth show.
“It’s a transcendent experience,” the Hamilton alum said of the concert. “But also, we do eight shows a week. It’s a lot of the same show every night — of Merrily We Roll Along — and watching Beyoncé all the four times I saw it, all the times I watched her on YouTube in all the other cities, she brought it to every city.”
“No matter which country, which city, it was always new, she was always in a different outfit,” he continued. “It inspired me for the run of our show, that every time you perform live, there’s new people out there. You have to bring everything you’ve got.”
Radcliffe chimed in to add that Groff even has a poster of his muse in his dressing room at Broadway’s Hudson Theatre.
