For months now, there’s been talk of a film based on Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour.
And now that the tour has come to a close, with the final stop in Kansas City, the concert ended with the announcement via a video from the giant screen on stage that the film will premiere in theaters Dec. 1.
Tickets are available now for showings at several theater chains in North America.
AMC Theatres and Parkwood Entertainment, the singer’s film company and record label, released details after the concert ended at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
“Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé” chronicles the process of crafting the 56-show, record-breaking world tour, from the first concert in Stockholm in May to the finale in Kansas City on Sunday.
Variety says the movie is expected to include elements from the live shows and a documentary-style account of making the “Renaissance” album and building out the tour.
The concerts were seen by more than 2.7 million fans around the world, many of whom anxiously watched a clock on the Parkwood website count down to the time of the movie announcement.
The movie will open in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Additional global dates will be announced later.
It will be shown Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for a minimum of four weeks, with multiple show times each day.
Tickets in the United States for standard show times will start at $22. It will also be shown at AMC theaters on IMAX screens and Dolby Cinema and other large-format screens
Tickets are available at amctheatres, Fandango and soon at Cinemark, Regal, Cinepolis and Cineplex.
The video announcing the movie came on screen at Arrowhead about 12:40 a.m., a little under three hours after the concert began.
The Renaissance tour finale featured an appearance by Blue Ivy, Cardi B in attendance and a successful mute challenge from the KC audience.
