According to The Mercury News, Beyoncé (41 years old) was appointed Honorary Mayor of Santa Clara, California when she held the Renaissance World Tour at Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara city on the evening of August 30.

The newspaper reported that the Santa Clara City Council voted on the evening of August 29 to have Mayor Lisa Gillmor award the title one day in advance to music superstar Beyoncé .

“The City of Santa Clara is excited about Beyoncé performing at the world-famous Levi’s Stadium. Her concerts certainly bring a lot of energy and excitement,” said a city spokesperson. Santa Clara Street – Michelle Templeton – told The Mercury News .

Templeton’s statement honored the Break My Soul singer , noting she “has had an enormous cultural impact as one of the most influential public figures”, while also mentioning the 35 Grammy Awards she won. Beyoncé once accepted the singer’s charity work.

This isn’t the first time this year the city of Santa Clara has paid tribute to a pop singer. When Taylor Swift brought her Eras Tour here on July 28 and 29, the city council also awarded her the title of Honorary Mayor and renamed the city “Swiftie Clara” for 2 days.

Cities like Atlanta and Minneapolis are also adopting “Beyoncé Day,” according to The Mercury News .
