‘Blue can paint — she can do makeup, she can do hair,’ Tina Knowles told The Messenger

Blue Ivy – Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s 11-year-old daughter — has become a star in her own right, appearing on stage with her mother during the blockbuster Renaissance Tour.

Beyoncé’s mother, and Blue’s grandmother, Tina Knowles told The Messenger exclusively that Blue Ivy reminds her of Beyoncé, but even more so of her younger daughter, Solange.

“She has just kind of the same personality, is very, very confident and is good at so many things,” Tina told The Messenger. “Beyoncé was so hyper focused on music, that was her life, and she never had any interest in anything else. But Blue can paint — she can do makeup, she can do hair. Beyoncé can do all those things but that was not her interest. Her interest was music. So, she reminds me of Solange so much…and her spirit, she’s a fighter. If you say she can’t do something, she’s going to do it 10 times better.”

Tina made the comments Monday night at the 25th Anniversary Angel Ball in New York, hosted by Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation’s co-founders, songwriter Denise Rich and her daughters Danielle Rich Kilstock and Ilona Rich Schacter. Tamron Hall was the emcee of the event that featured performances by Mary J. Blige, Robin Thicke and Miri Ben Ari.

Tina also provided a sweet update on Solange’s son Julez, after she recently shared a video from a celebration of his 19th birthday. Fans hoping Tina’s grandson might follow his mom, aunt Beyonce or cousin Blue into the music industry shouldn’t hold their breath. “This guy is all about fashion and he’s working on a clothing line,” Tina revealed. “I’m so excited about it. And he’s into modeling. He loves taking pictures.”

Meanwhile, fans can expect to see Blue Ivy on the big screen when Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé opens in the U.S., Canada and Mexico on Dec. 1. The trailer has revealed rare, behind-the-scenes moments of the singer’s family, including her stretching pre-performance with Blue Ivy.
