For the first time in what seems like forever, Britney Spears has some good news to share about a family relationship. Our girl posted to Instagram that after three years, she and her mom, Lynn Spears, may have finally reconciled.
“My sweet mama showed up at my door step yesterday after 3 years,” Britney wrote in the caption, alongside a childhood photo of herself in a ballet costume. “It’s been such a long time … with family there’s always things that need to be worked out … but time heals all wounds !!! And after being able to communicate what I’ve held in for an extremely long time, I feel so blessed we were able to try to make things RIGHT !!! I love 💕 you so much !!!”
She added, “Psss… I’m so blessed we can have coffee together after 14 years !!! Let’s go shopping afterwards !!!”
Since being released from her conservatorship, Britney Spears has been extremely candid with the public about her situation, and has accused her mom, Lynne, of helping her father set up the guardianship in the first place and of enabling the alleged conservatorship abuse. In a since deleted YouTube video, per Variety, Spears said, “a woman introduced the idea to my dad, and my mom actually helped him follow through and made it all happen.” Reflecting on the #FreeBritney movement and the rest of her family’s involvement in the conservatorship, she said, “The whole thing that made it really confusing for me is these people are on the street fighting for me, but my sister and my mother aren’t doing anything.” Spears added, “To me, it was like they secretly honestly liked me being the bad one—like I was messed up, and they kind of just liked it that way. Otherwise, why weren’t they outside my doorstep, saying, ‘Baby girl, get in the car. Let’s go.’”
Thankfully, after all of this, it looks like Britney’s relationships with both her mom and sister, Jamie Lynne Spears, are on the mend. I truly hope for nothing but the best for this woman.
