Britney Spears has called welfare checks a ‘joke’ not long after authorities visited her California home after the pop singer shared an Instagram video of herself dancing with knives that she has since claimed are ‘fake.’

The Toxic singer, 41, who shared a second clip of herself with the kitchen knives following the welfare check, uploaded a photo of a ballerina’s point shoes balancing on knives on stage alongside a lengthy caption on Saturday.

‘Is it a joke in the news again with welfare checks??? Come on America … we cooler than that, right???’ the performer began.

‘The officers came to my home and said they would not leave until they spoke to me as people do 4 minute performances with them,’ she penned, and adamantly added, ‘I am getting an apology.’

Spears then added, ‘I’ve been bullied in my home for so long now…ITS ENOUGH! Don’t talk about it, come on, let’s DO!!!’

Britney then wrote, ‘As my mom does the silent treatment when paps ask questions about her own daughter as if I’m in the wrong…nope it’s an old game.’

In conclusion, she further slammed authorities showing up at her home and typed, ‘People need to be responsible for their actions! It’s about power for cops.’

Earlier this week, TMZ reported that the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department had received a call on Wednesday from an individual ‘expressing concern’ over the singer’s latest social media posts – which included her performance with knives.

‘Out of an abundance of caution,’ officers made the decision to stop by Britney’s $7.4 million mansion for a welfare check.

Deputies were able to confirm that the pop singer was fine, and left her house soon afterwards. However, other sources told the outlet that, ‘several people called the cops after Britney posted the knife video…’

TMZ later reported that the call on Wednesday was actually made by the LAPD Smart Team – a mental evaluation unit. Authorities went to the star’s house after the caller assured them that she wasn’t just a fan.

Spears’ attorney reached out to the deputies after the welfare check, and authorities explained that they visited Britney’s home due to the caller knowing the singer.

The Baby One More Time hitmaker initially sparked concern when she shared a reel of herself dancing with two knives which she uploaded to her 42.1 million followers on Monday.

Britney Spears performs another knife-wielding dance session

The songstress could be seen wearing a polka-dot cropped top and white bikini bottoms as she showed off a few of her favorite dance moves with the kitchen utensils.

In the caption, she assured her fans, ‘I started playing in the kitchen with knives today. Don’t worry they are NOT real knives !!! Halloween is soon!!!’

However, her followers expressed worry over the clip, while others noted that her adorable pups also seemed slightly alarmed in the background.

After the welfare check, she uploaded another video of herself performing choreography with the knives once again. She sported a different outfit that comprised of a white cropped top as well as pink, drawstring bikini bottoms.

Britney explained, ‘I know I spooked everyone with the last post, but these are fake knives that my team rented from Hand Prop shop in LA.’

‘These are not real knives. No one needs to worry or call the police. I’m trying to imitate one of my favorite performers Shakira … a performance I was inspired by!!! Cheers to us bad girls who aren’t afraid to push boundaries and take risks.’

Earlier this month, Shakira notably danced with knives during her performance during the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards.

Back in January, police conducted a welfare check on the singer after she sparked concern by deleting Instagram for for the seventh time in less than a year.

Deputies were then sent out to the Toxic singer’s Thousand Oaks home and determined ‘there was no reason to believe she was in danger.’

Spears reportedly has ‘had a fascination with knives,’ TMZ reported in May, adding that the singer slept ‘with one under her bed’ amid terror of being ‘re-institutionalized.’

A year and a half after the end of her 13-year conservatorship, in which Spears previously described as ‘abusive’ in explosive courtroom testimony, a source alleged that the pop star remains in ‘mortal fear’ that ‘someone will come in the middle of the night, strap her to a gurney and take her to a psych ward.’

After regaining control of her own personal and financial affairs in 2021, the site claims those caring for the mother-of-two ‘prepared a list of recommendations’ for Spears, which included keeping her away from weapons and ‘not driving alone.’

The singer, who revealed in 2021 that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, is said to have a ‘constant fear of being re-institutionalized.’

In 2022, Britney’s younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, claimed in her tell-all book that her sibling once locked them in a room together while holding a knife.

‘I’ve never been around you ever with a knife or would I ever even think to do such!!!’ Britney tweeted in 2022. ‘The only knife I ever saw you with at home was cutting the biggest pieces of squash I ever saw in my life and it was way too big for me to cut.’

Britney has been anticipating the release of her memoir, The Woman In Me, which will be available on October 24.

The star has also been involved in a bitter divorce battle with her ex, Sam Asghari – who filed for divorce from Spears last month in August after a little over one year of marriage.
