Back in 2003, there was no Law Roach or Erin Walsh to dress Britney Spears for her red-carpet appearances, which is how our girl accidentally found herself wearing a pajama top to Colin Farrell’s movie premiere. Been there, babe. Sort of.

“In the course of our fun time together, [Farrell] took me to the premiere of a spy thriller he was in called The Recruit with Al Pacino,” Spears recounts in her memoir, The Woman in Me. At that time, Spears and Farrell were in the midst of their brief fling, and she writes that she was “so flattered” that Farrell asked her to be his date to the premiere. Unfortunately, Spears says, “I wore a pajama top.” She explains self-deprecatingly, “I thought it was a real shirt because it had miniature studs on it but I see the photos and I think, ‘Yeah, I definitely wore a full-blown pajama top to Colin Farrell’s premiere.’”

Personally, I think Britney’s being a little hard on herself. The top in question was a cream-colored silk camisole with lace around the neckline and the aforementioned rhinestone studs, which she wore with ultra-low-rise leather pants. Sure, it may technically be sleepwear, but lingerie-inspired styles were very trendy at the time! I think even Law Roach would agree that this totally works as a regular shirt.
