Jamie Lynn Spears is reflecting on the time sister Britney Spears was left “heartbroken” after losing to former rival Christina Aguilera at the 2000 Grammy Awards.
During the latest “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!” episode, the 32-year-old actress revealed she thought the pop star, 41, was a shoo-in for the Best New Artist award while talking to cast mate Sam Thompson about his own recent snub from the British Podcast Awards.
“Want to hear about something really embarrassing that happened one time?” she asked. “It involves my sister. She was up for her first Grammy. It was her and Christina [Aguilera].”
“Britney was clearly the bigger star of that year, she worked her ass off,” Jamie Lynn continued. “They had MTV camera crews at home watching our family, because it was like a no-brainer, she’s winning. And she’s there and she lost.”

Jamie Lynn, who was “7 or 8” at the time, remembered being so upset for her big sister, thinking, “‘This is crap.’”
“Christina won it, and by the way remember Christina was wonderfully talented, but that year, I mean come on, let’s be honest, ‘It’s Britney, bitch’ like always.”

Despite the loss, Britney went on to win Best Dance Recording for “Toxic” in 2005 and has garnered eight total nominations.
While the sisters have had a very tumultuous relationship over the years, during an earlier episode the “Zoey 101” star revealed they were finally in a good place — despite Britney’s bombshell book release last month.
“I think every family fights and has their stuff,” Jamie Lynn said. “But I talked to her before I came here and we love each other.”“Christina won it, and by the way remember Christina was wonderfully talented, but that year, I mean come on, let’s be honest, ‘It’s Britney, bitch’ like always,” Jamie Lynn said.Getty Images
The surprising update comes after Britney called out her younger sister for “capitalizing” off her pain by releasing her memoir, “Things I Should Have Said,” following the end of the “Toxic” singer’s 13-year conservatorship.
In Britney’s own book, “The Woman in Me,” she claimed Jamie Lynn “betrayed” her by sharing several unfavorable stories about her in November 2021, just two months after she gained her freedom.
“As I was fighting the conservatorship and receiving a lot of press attention, she was writing a book capitalizing on it,” the pop star recalled. “She rushed out salacious stories about me, many of them hurtful and outrageous.”

Elsewhere in the book, Britney claimed she texted her younger sister for help before being placed in a mental health facility in 2018, but Jamie Lynn sided with their parents.
