Ragnar, a flamenco dog that was saved and battled to the very last, passes away because “He Can’t Take It Anymore.”

The sho‌ck of a puppy weighing less than 18kg that was rescued by a neighbor from Elche, Alicante (Spain) has sho‌cked the world.
Ragnar, a flamenco dog that was saved and battled to the very last, passes away because “He Can’t Take It Anymore.”

7-year-old mastiff was found severely malnourished, at the Urbaser cleaning company premises, on the verge of death

He was baptized as Ragnar, in honor of the legendary Norse king, Ragnar Lodbrok. And since he arrived at the doors of the Huellas Salvadas  Animal Shelter , he was only surrounded by love and self-sacrifice.

His condition was critical but his rescuers did not lose hope… Every little step was a world for Ragnar

From minute one, the veterinarians at the Menescal Novelda clinic exhausted all their efforts, watching over him 24 hours a day, to save him. They support the hypothesis that he could have been locked up in a field or in a warehouse, which could give clues to the police, but there is still no success in the investigations.

He had an abscess in his ear and face, from which worms came out, but he clung to life with all his might.

But this Monday morning, Huellas Salvadas, with a huge lump in their throats and unable to believe having to give this devastating news, have made public the sad departure of Ragnar.
“Her weak body could not take it anymore and tonight she lost the battle”, is part of the emotional message that the Protector has spread on her networks.
«We woke up with bad news, with that news that we would never have liked to give.  Our Viking warrior, Ragnar has passed away . We are immensely sad because we wished with all our might that he would go forward, we know that all of you too, including him , “wrote Huellas Salvadas.

«Now our Viking is completely free, he has left surrounded by love and with many people who love him. Although it was only for a short time, he has known the other face of the human being, the one who uses his hands to caress and love and not to mistreat. We know that, like a true Viking warrior, you will be in Valhalla,” continues the heartbreaking message loaded with boundless emotion.

“Ragnar, we are in pain, we will never forget you and now we will fight more than ever to find who did this to you. Rest in peace little great WARRIOR. RAGNAR is already a legend and legends never di‌e”, concludes the tribute to this little boy who on the other side of the rainbow will no longer know what pain or ingratitude is.

The Protector also wanted to deeply thank the veterinarians and all those who in one way or another were collaborating, making donations, sharing Ragnar’s case and becoming the megaphone for those who have no voice. “To all, thank you very much.” And they confess that as expected, they are broken with pain.

The Local Police of Elche will not rest until they find the owner of Ragnar, who lacked a chip and who weighed less than 20 kilos, when he should have weighed 60.

We are heartbroken that Ragnar came to the world to see the worst side of humanity, but at the same time very much hope that in his final days he is surrounded only by love and compassion. Share this news to speak out and that the death of this great warrior was not in vain, no other puppy deserves such an end. Fly high, girl, where no one else can hurt you!
