Actor Sam Asghari is defending his ex Britney Spears after Donald Trump Jr. tried to use the Princess of Pop to make a political statement.

Although the 29-year-old actor filed for divorce from the 41-year-old pop star on August 16, it appears that he was not a fan of the way Donald Trump’s son used the pop star to make a political statement.

On Sunday, Donald Trump Jr. took to Instagram to share a side-by-side of a young Britney Spears that is captioned, “America under Trump.” The next photo then shows Britney in Monday’s knife dancing video, which reads “America under Biden.” Donald Trump Jr. simply wrote “Yup” in the caption.

Sam Asghari shared it to his Instagram Stories on Sunday night, writing “It’s not okay to be a bully” and tagged Trump Jr. directly. The post was added after a clip of the actor presenting an award at the Hollywood Beauty Awards.

The “Special Ops: Lioness” actor was not the only one to call out the post as mean-spirited and request that it be taken down. “That is mean. Britney has been so taken advantage of. I love Donald Trump but take this down,” one fan commented.

“She is sick and needs help before she hurts her children or someone else,” another follower alleged. “What are we 12 years old here?” another user asked. “The funny part is that she doesn’t have any impeachments or pending felony charges. How many does The Donald have?” another netizen chimed in. “DO NOT TOUCH BRITNEY. HAVE RESPECT!” another follower demanded.

On Wednesday night, local law enforcement officials conducted a welfare check on Britney Spears to make sure she was all right after she followed up her initial Instagram knife dancing video with another Instagram video that featured her dancing with a bandage around her arm, a cut on her leg, and a bruise on her lower back.

While the police were checking on Britney, a source told The Sun that the 29-year-old actor was spotted at the COSF Zodiac Ball Night Before Dinner at Boa Steakhouse in West Hollywood with his manager, Brandon Cohen, and friends around the same time.

“Sam didn’t want a big fuss about his attendance, and he seemed a little nervous about the crowd because there were obviously quite a few eyes on him,” an insider told the outlet. “Many of the high-profile guests were happy to pose for photographs in the entryway, but Sam dodged the cameras and just spent time mingling with Brandon.”

“He was mostly with a crowd of guys and didn’t seem to pay much attention to the flow of beautiful models and influencers filling up the venue,” they continued. “After arriving early and enjoying the buzzy atmosphere at the cocktail reception, he snuck out before the main sitdown dinner and headed to the valet.”

However, another source told Page Six that Sam “seemed flirty” at the party and was “very social” at the event, even going as far as to say that he was “on the prowl” and “mingling with women” at Wednesday’s VIP Night Before Dinner ahead of the Zodiac Ball to benefit the Children’s Oncology Support Fund.

Another source told The Sun that the actor is interested in making connections and is “keen to get out into the Hollywood scene” and make a name for himself to boost his acting career. In late August, a source told TMZ that he is interested in taking on hosting gigs amid the divorce while continuing to pursue character-driven roles.

Although he was working as a personal trainer at L.A.’s Royal Personal Training when he first met Britney on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video in 2016, sources told the outlet that he has “no plans to get back into the personal training game” and wants to pursue a career as a full-time actor.

After starring in her “Slumber Party” music video, Sam went on to appear in one episode of “NCIS” in 2019, one episode of “The Family Business” in 2020, one episode of “Hacks” in 2021, one episode of “Doll Face” in 2022 and two episodes of “Special Ops: Lioness” in 2023. He has an upcoming role in Paul Feig’s “Grand Death Lotto,” which also stars Awkwafina, John Cena, and Simu Liu.
