TimbalandBritney Spears

Timbaland is apologizing for recent comments about Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, noting, “I was wrong for saying that.”

After referencing Spears’ headline-making memoir The Woman in Me and all her bombshell revelations, the music produced stated, “I wanted to call and say, ‘JT, you gotta put a muzzle on that.”

Shortly after, Timbaland shared his regret following his statements during a TikTok Live posted on the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 7, which fans posted on X afterward.

“I’m sorry to all the Britney fans, even to her. If she never saw the…I’m sorry ’cause ‘muzzle’ was…no. You have a voice, you speak what you wanna speak. Who am I to tell you what not to speak?”

“I was wrong, you know, for saying that, but I hope you see it from- I was looking at it from a different lens,” Timbaland went on, before explaining that he is a “reconcile person” who wants to “compromise.”

The rapper ended by saying, “You know, about respecting women, hell yeah.”

Fans of Spears weren’t exactly accepting of Timbaland’s apology, with comments on X saying, “No thank you what kind of apology is this???????” and “it’s too late to apologiiizzzzeeeee,” with the latter comment referencing Timbaland’s popular song with One Republic.

Still, there were a few people who sided with the 51-year-old, like one who wrote, “Thank god he apologize he did the right thing.”

Timbaland’s initial comments about Spears—which were heavily criticized by fans—occurred during his appearance on a panel for “Sounds Architects: A Producer Conversation” in reference to the explosive allegations about Timberlake and Spears’ past relationship included in her book.

One supporter of Spears said, “Gross, misogynistic, and highly malicious commentary considering that scam of a conservatorship she was in.”

Neither Spears nor Timberlake publicly responded to Timbaland’s comments about the 41-year-old and her memoir.
