Parents often look forward to their babies taking their first steps.

There are many important events in a child’s first year. The most exciting thing can be the baby’s first steps. On average, babies take their first steps around their first birthday.

The schedule is different for every child. Some babies start walking before 12 months. Some babies don’t walk until their first birthday. Don’t compare your child’s progress with your friends’ children or your other children.

You can encourage your baby’s first steps by having a push toy or two to keep him entertained. Don’t be tempted to buy a baby “walker” because they are dangerous for your baby.

Also, walkers actually prevent your child from walking on their own. Don’t forget to buy sturdy shoes that will fit your child’s feet.
