Jada Pinkett Smith has clarified her relationship with Will Smith.
There’s understandably been a media frenzy ever since the actor revealed she and Will separated more than half a decade ago.
While promoting her upcoming memoir Worthy, Jada stunned the world by saying they have been living separately and learning to live life without the other.
However, they’re not officially divorced.
“I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever. And I just haven’t been able to break that promise,” Jada said.
When asked why she had maintained this unique arrangement, the 52-year–old actor continued: “I think just not being ready yet.
“Still trying to figure out between the two of us how to be in a partnership, and in regards to how do we present that to people, you know?”
“And we hadn’t figured that out.”
However, the Girls Trip star has now clarified the comments on her marriage.
In a new interview with Hoda Kotb on Today, the 55-year-old claimed that people had ‘missed the point’ she was trying to make.
She said she and Will are actually not going their separate ways.
“We are working very hard at bringing our relationship, yes, bringing our relationship back together…back to a life partnership, yes,” she told Hoda.

“I have to be able to accept him for the human he is. He accepts me for the human that I am, and we want to love each other there. We really have been working hard.”
To which Hoda said: “Oh! OK. Well … I didn’t know that.”
Jada replied: “That’s the point I was trying to tell you. You totally missed that. That’s the whole thing.”
Hoda then asked: “There might not be a divorce, in theory, anymore?”
The actor responded with a resounding ‘no’, adding she and Will are still working hard at their relationship – whatever that might be.
Hoda replied: “So, wait. Just so I’m 100 per cent sure … You were divorced not on paper?”
“Right,” Jada said.
My god, I’m gonna need a Red Table Talk episode for further explanation on this.
