JADEN Smith has revealed that murdered rapper Tupac Shakur once proposed to his mother and why Jada turned him down.
In the recently resurfaced video, the 25-year-old spoke of how the pair were “best friends” before Tupac was fatally shot in Las Vegas in 1996.

Pinkett Smith has previously spoken of her past close relationship with the late Compton-raised rapper.
She said on Friday that she hopes to finally get “closure” with the arrest of suspect Duane (Keffe D) Davis – 27 years after Tupac’s murder.
“Now I hope we can get some answers and have some closure,” she wrote on Instagram, adding “R.I.P. Pac” next to a photo of them together the same year he was killed.
The then budding-stars had attended the same Baltimore high school in the 1980s, and Jada would later become “deep-rooted” in the hip-hop scene, her son revealed.
In the resurfaced 2018 interview with YouTube’s Big Boy, Jaden was looking at old pictures of his mother and the late rapper together.
He then announced: “Tupac asked to marry mom, and she was like, ‘Pac, we’re best friends.'”
“They say marry your best friend, but I’m glad they didn’t,” responded Big Boy as they both nodded in agreement.
Instead, Jada married Hollywood legend Will Smith in 1997 and has frequently had to dispel long-running rumours that her and 2PAC were romantically involved.
“I know that most people want to always connect it in this romance thing, but that’s just because they don’t have the story,” she said on Sirius XM in 2017.
Again in 2018, the Set it Off star talked about how they kissed once but it wasn’t right despite their “precious” relationship.
“You know, it’s so funny because now being older, I have more of an understanding of what that was between us,” she told Pop Sugar.
However, when Jada and Will began dating in 1995, she was allegedly concerned that their romance would anger Tupac and that he would attack the actor.
In 2021, the murdered rapper’s bandmate Mutah Wassin Shabazz Beale disclosed that he had been “very upset” at such a suggestion.
Beale said in an interview with The Art of Dialogue; “Pac came in the room and he was like, ‘Jada, she gon’ contact me and tell me, don’t do nothing to Will Smith.’
“So ‘Pac was upset. He was like, ‘I don’t know why she thinks that I would have tried to make some problems with Will Smith.’
“I guess it kind of hurt him. He had a lot of love for Jada Pinkett and a lot of respect for her.”
Oscar-winning Will Smith has previously been open about his “raging jealousy” he felt over Jada and Tupac’s relationship.
“Though they were never intimate, their love for each other is legendary—they defined ‘ride or die,'” he wrote in his 2021 memoir Will.
“In the beginning of our relationship, my mind was tortured by their connection. He was PAC! And I was me.”
His confession continued: “I hated that I wasn’t what he was in the world, and I suffered a raging jealousy: I wanted Jada to look at me like that.”
It comes as a man has finally been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Tupac in Sin City on September 7, 1996.
Duane (Keefe D) Davis, 60, was arrested and charged with one count of murder with a deadly weapon on September 29 months after investigators raided his home in Las Vegas.
The notorious Compton Crip gang leader had bragged for years about his involvement in the notorious unsolved murder.
Now, it’s reported that his first “confession” during a probe into the slaying of Biggie Smalls is what helped lead to his arrest.
One retired cop revealed that detectives’ attention was first drawn to Keefe as part of an investigation into the eerily similar shooting of Biggie Smalls, The Notorious BIG.
The bombshell news places the gangster at the centre of two of the most enduring mysteries in hip-hop history.
Meanwhile, the charge against Davis followed The U.S. Sun sending a landmark recording to the Las Vegas police in which Keefe openly admitted to knowledge of the “hit” on Tupac.
