Keanu Reeves kicked off the week by turning down a marriage proposal when a lovestruck superfan popped the question on Monday.

The 58-year-old icon received the ultimate compliment during a Q&A session on stage after the premiere of John Wick: Chapter 4 at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.

According to Variety, Reeves was sharing with the audience how he kept his character’s watch and wedding ring as mementos, prompting the outburst from a potential fiancee.

‘I’ll marry you!’ declared the fan, which elicited a funny response from Keanu: ‘Yeah, be careful what you wish for.’

If Reeves had accepted the proposal, it would’ve been his first marriage as the action star has never tied the knot.

In addition to the surprise proposal, Keanu received an enthusiastic response from the audience after the screening of John Wick: Chapter 4, which premieres in theaters on March 24.

Appearing on stage next to director Chad Stahelski, Keanu said: ‘You guys are amazing. Thanks for that experience. You guys are f***ing awesome.’

But the future of the blockbuster franchise looks uncertain after Stahelski disclosed that both he and Keanu are ‘done for the moment.’

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Stahelski revealed that he and Reeves want to rest the franchise after releasing four films in nine years.

‘In our minds, Keanu and I are done for the moment. We’re going to give John Wick a rest. I’m sure the studio has a plan. If everyone loves it and it goes kooky, then we’ll take a quiet minute.’

He added that when the press tour ends in Japan, he and Reeves will contemplate the future of the franchise

The director said: ‘Keanu and I will take the long trip to Tokyo, we’ll sit in the Imperial Hotel Scotch Bar and go, “What do you think?”

‘We’ll have a couple 20-year-old whiskies and write some ideas on napkins. If those ideas stick, maybe we’ll make a movie.’
