Keanu Reeves said he would love to play Batman in a live-action movie after playing the role in DC League of Super-Pets.

The 57-year-old actor recently talked about playing the Dark Knight onscreen at a premiere for the film.

When asked if he liked voicing the character in a red carpet interview with Extra, Reeves responded, ‘I love Batman, as a character. I love him in the comic books, in the films, so to get the opportunity to voice, to play Batman was awesome.’

The interviewer then asked Reeves if he’d like to play the role in a live-action capacity. While he paid deference to current Batman actor Robert Pattinson, The Matrix star did admit he would love to step into the role.

‘Maybe down the road,’ he said. ‘Maybe when they need an older Batman. I have a small part in this film, a bit of a cameo, but even that just to be a part of a project that [Dwayne] Johnson and Kevin Hart are a part of is awesome, and I got to play Batman.’

While Reeves’ dreams of playing Batman aren’t completely far-fetched, he is right that he would have to play an older version of the character.

Even if he got the role tomorrow at 57 years old, Keanu would be one of the oldest actors to don the cape and cowl.

Michael Keaton, 70, who played Batman in the 1989 film Batman and its 1992 sequel Batman Returns will be the oldest character to play Batman in a live-action movie when he takes on the role in Batgirl, which seems poised for a 2023 release date.
