Kim Kardashian brings sister Khloe to LA county’s state prison as she hopes to ‘change the lives’ of those behind bars: ‘It’s always an honor to be able to visit the men and women living behind our prison walls’

Kim Kardashian said she thinks it is an ‘honor’ to be able to spend time with prison inmates.

The 42-year-old reality star paid a visit to Los Angeles County’s California State Prison in Lancaster – which is about an hour drive north of Beverly Hills – on Monday that was followed by a lunch at a restaurant.

The SKIMS founder – who was recently seen in Poland – was with her younger sister Khloe, 38.

Their visit was part of REFORM Alliance’s Future Shapers Advisory Council and Kim explained that she wants to use her celebrity platform to ‘change the lives’ of those behind bars.

Following the visit, she said: ‘It’s always an honor to be able to visit the men and women living behind our prison walls.

‘Hearing the stories of people trapped in the prison system is what drives my commitment to advocate for reform and find ways to leverage my platform to help change lives and laws.’

The Kardashians star went on to add that she was ‘thrilled’ to be able to bring the council – which was established in 2018 by rapper Meek Mill, alongside individuals that include Michael Rubin and Jay-Z – into the prison.

She vowed to be building the next generation of leaders.

She said: ‘Today I was especially thrilled to bring REFORM’s Future Shapers Advisory Council inside the prison as well.

‘We are building up the next generation of leaders and influencers who will join us in this fight.’

The designer – who has North, 10, Saint, seven, Chicago, six, and three-year-old Psalm with ex-husband Kanye West – is currently training to be a lawyer.

In January of this year she is said to have met criminals in ‘solitary confinement’ at the Pelican Bay State Prison in Crescent, California where she reportedly had discussions with them about their mental health.

At the time, a source told TMZ: ‘Kim spent a day at Pelican Bay State Prison in Crescent, CA earlier this week.

‘Her focus was to meet with inmates in solitary confinement, speaking with them in depth about the toll the lockup can have on their mental stability.’

Guests in attendance included Lil Baby; REFORM Alliance Chief Advocacy Officer Jessica Jackson, Co-Chair Michael Rubin, and Senior Director of Policy and Law Erin Haney; select council members Hannah Jackson, Rondo Bonilla, Sophia Kianni, Zander Moricz, Jack Wright, Dixie D’Amelio, Heidi D’Amelio, Marc D’Amelio and Aidan Kohn-Murphy.

The group was also joined by California Assemblymember Matt Haney (D-San Francisco).

The group met with incarcerated men in the facility to learn about their stories, hear about the challenges that led them into the criminal justice system, and identify ways in which the system can better support safety and rehabilitation.

They also toured rehabilitative programming at the facility like the PAWS For Life program.

The inaugural Future Shapers Advisory Council cohort will unite some of the nation’s leading Gen-Z leaders and influencers to learn about the criminal justice system, create content that helps inform their audiences, and work with REFORM to drive awareness and action.

These members include: Co-Chair Hannah Jackson, Co-Chair Rondo Bonilla, Charli D’Amelio, Dixie D’Amelio, Sophia Kianni, CJ Stroud, Zander Moricz, Jack Wright, Bryce Young, Jax Ajueny, and Aidan Kohn-Murphy. Additional members of the council will be added in the weeks to come.

REFORM’s Future Shapers Advisory Council was established following an informative and inspiring Gen Z dinner hosted by REFORM co-chair and Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin and Kardashian in February to bring in the next generation of leaders in the criminal justice reform movement.

The group gathered at Rubin’s Los Angeles home and listened to multiple speakers share their experiences with the criminal justice system.

Kardashian shared with the Gen Z’ers that the best way to learn about the system to change it is to connect with the people who have been most impacted by it.

The prison visit is one of the cohort’s first engagements as members of the council. Following the visit, the group debriefed over lunch.

Rubin wrote on Instagram, ‘We visited Lancaster Prison (LAC) with this committed group of young leaders and members of REFORM’s Future Shapers Advisory Council to hear firsthand from people in the system and learn about what we can do to improve it.

‘This was an important step towards building up the next generation of leaders who will work with us to collectively reform and improve our supervision system and advocate for a fairer and more logical justice system.

‘Thank you to @kimkardashian, @jessicajackson and @reform for building upon February’s Gen Z dinner and continuing our efforts to transform probation and parole across the country.’
