The first photo the brand posted was a close-up of Kim’s face while covered in red splotches.
Her face was completely makeup-free and unedited in the photo.
It was captioned: “In honor of Skincare Awareness Month, we sat down with our founder for a Q&A about living with psoriasis.”
In the next pic, the Skims founder showed off her leg, which was also covered in psoriasis patches.
In the caption of the photo, the brand asked her: “Q: How did you discover you had psoriasis?”
She answered: “A: I had my first flare-up when I was 25. I came down with a cold, and since psoriasis is an auto-immune condition, that’s what triggered it.
“It’s been part of my life ever since.”
FLARE-UP ALERT
In the next Story, the Kardashian sister can be seen applying a skincare product to her hand.
The brand asked her: “Q: How has psoriasis affected your lifestyle?”
She answered: “A: It definitely made me more conscious of how I treat my body.
“After my diagnosis, I made the switch to a plant-based diet, started managing my stress more effectively, and shifted my focus to nourishing skincare.”
Finally, the brand asked Kim how her perspective has changed since getting diagnosed with the skin condition.
She admitted that she’s “fully embraced” her condition, and she said she’s at peace with the flare-ups as long as she’s not in pain.
A DECADE OF STRUGGLE
Last year, Kim opened up about her condition on her sister Kourtney Kardashian’s lifestyle site, Poosh.
She said: “Even though I always grew up with my mom having psoriasis and hearing her talk about her struggle, I really had no idea what my life would be like dealing with an autoimmune disease myself.
“It’s been 13 years since I experienced my first psoriasis flare-up. My journey has been very different from my mom’s, but I see so many similarities as well.”
The reality television star continued: “She had it in her scalp and all over her body, and I’d see it all the time and remember her going to the tanning salon to try and ease it.
“Getting UV rays directly on the spots really helped my mom. For me, however, that remedy would burn the areas and cause them to itch, so I always felt helpless.”
Kim explained that she is “the only child my mom passed down her autoimmune issue to.”
