Keanu Reeves’ John Wick has very quickly become one of the most iconic action-movie heroes, or one could say anti-heroes, of all time. With the first film being about a former hitman who is forced to step back into the world of crime after the death of his wife and dog, the story has evolved a lot since then, turning into an epic portrayal of a fictional criminal world with its own very interesting rules and regulations. Wick’s on his own is incredibly skilled in many forms of martial art, as well as using all sorts of weapons and ammunition.

With Reeves’ character setting a new benchmark for what an action hero can be, comparisons have become unavoidable and many have been promoted to either, compare their own film characters to the likes of Wick, try to figure out who would win in a fight between them, or want to see a team-up happen. This does not seem to be the cast for the director of Equalizer 3, who is going out of his way to explain the difference between the highly trained hitman, and Denzel Washington’s Robert McCall.
The Director Of Equalizer 3 Wants To Team Up With Keanu Reeves’ John Wick
Being the fifth film Denzel Washington is doing with director, Antoine Fuqua, The Equalizer film series is an incredibly captivating story, with the upcoming film, The Equalizer 3, following Robert McCall after he gave up his life as a government assassin, to live in Southern Italy. Here, he grows to care for the local community, only to find out that their lives are being made incredibly difficult because of the resident mob bosses.

“That’s an interesting question. I think it would be a lot of fun with John Wick.” Fuqua stated
McCall’s character is, perhaps, quite similar to Keanu Reeve’s John Wick. Both of them are highly trained killers, willing to pull the trigger for the sake of others who order them, be it as a hitman or an assassin. During an interview with CBR, Fuqua was asked which other ‘dark angel’ from cinema would he like to see team up with his character, with Liam Neeson’s Bryan Mills, Bruce Willis’ John McClane, and John Wick being the examples. The director stated that he would love to see Wick and McCall team up with each other.
Antoine Fuqua Explains The Difference Between John Wick And Robert McCall
Antoine Fuqua then went on to compare Keanu Reeves‘ John Wick and Denzel Washington’s Robert McCall. The director talked about how he believes that even though these characters are somewhat similar, they are very different when it comes to certain things. He went on to explain, talking specifically about their fighting styles and how Wick is better versed with weapons, whereas McCall is very skilled when it comes to the brutality of hand-to-hand combat.

“They are very different. If McCall needs some weapons or some guns, I would let John do that. When it comes to up-close brutality, let McCall handle that. They are very different.” he stated.
He then started to talk about this potential team-up, stating that if they were to work together, McCall would let Wick deal with the guns and ammunition aspect of their fight, whereas he himself would focus his attention on fighting.
