Will Smith is a talented personality who had to deal with severe backlash after he slapped comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars 2022. His wife, Jada Pinkett Smith was an important figure in the whole scenario as the latter made fun of her bald look.
Being reportedly unaware of her medical condition alopecia which causes hair loss, he commented on her. The Smith couple got furious over the same with the former assaulting the latter on stage. He, later on, realized his mistake and apologized but got banned from attending Oscar ceremonies for a decade.

While his journey in the acting industry is not going to be a smooth ride after the incident, it looks like it is going to get rougher. His wife is under fire as she is the executive producer of an upcoming docu-series about a controversial docuseries, Queen Cleopatra VII.

The 51-year-old actress, Jada Pinkett Smith is facing backlash after the Netflix series, Queen Cleopatra, which she is an executive producer of, has sparked controversy.
The upcoming docuseries is featuring Britain’s Adele James in the titular role who is of mixed heritage. The series is under critical backlash as fans are complaining about the ethnicity of the first-century Egyptian ruler who has African roots in the upcoming show.
A lawyer has lodged a complaint claiming that the docudrama has violated the country’s media laws and demanded the OTT platform, Netflix be blocked in Egypt. He further added that the show is aiming to “erase the Egyptian identity”.
As per BBC, an archeologist expressed their opinion on the show’s cast stating, “Cleopatra was Greek, meaning that she was light-skinned, not black.”
While the legendary ruler’s ethnicity is in question, the former previously opened up about having James in the series.

Earlier this month, Netflix’s promotional website Tudum released Will Smith‘s wife’s statement regarding the choice of casting an actor of black origin. Stating that she wanted to represent “Black women,” she continued,
“We don’t often get to see or hear stories about Black queens, and that was really important for me, as well as for my daughter, and just for my community to be able to know those stories because there are tons of them!”
She continued,
“The sad part is that we don’t have ready access to these historical women who were so powerful and were the backbones of African nations.”
While Queen Cleopatra’s ethnicity has long been in debate, her recent actions have angered the Egyptians. Some Twitterati shared their opinion on the same and slammed the Girls Trip star as she is the executive producer of the project.

Of all the possible stories you could make a movie on, you bring on scientologist will smith’s cheating wife to make a movie about a black cleopatra that never existed? Is history completely forgotten on you, or do simply decide to ignore it as your audience is no less ignorant.

First she ruined Will Smith, then she ruined Cleopatra. Thanks, Jada. Who’s next? Gorgo? Theodora? Sappho?

When I learned that Will Smith’s wife was making that shitty Cleopatra movie I already knew at that instant it’d be some childish ego project for her. Not even worth the contempt.

Will Smith was quoted as saying, “KEEP CLEOPATRA’S SKIN COLOR OUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH”. Sure it seems a bizarre choice but it’s produced by a person completely unhinged from reality.

Netflix is at it again. 🙄
News flash. Cleopatra VII was white, Greek Macedonian to be exact.
It should come as no surprise that this garbage is produced by toxic and abhorrent narcissist Jada Pinkett Smith.
Let me guess. The pyramids are black colleges.

Her decision to represent people of color has now backfired which is now taking an indirect toll on the King Richard actor. Many users are continuing to drag him into the topic by giving an indirect reference to his infamous Slap incident. Though his reputation has greatly been affected since last year, his wife’s upcoming series has further opened those old wounds.
While the criticism continues, the upcoming series, Queen Cleopatra is set to premiere on May 10. 2023 on Netflix.
