Will Smith has finally responded to Jada Pinkett Smith’s revelations contained in her new memoir.

Jada has been causing an absolute media frenzy while promoting Worthy, in which she reflects on her relationship with the A-list actor.

While sitting down with Hoda Kotb on Today, Jada revealed that she and Will had been separated for seven years, although they have never officially divorced.

“I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever. And I just haven’t been able to break that promise,” Jada said.

Hoda asked: “But you still live separately.”

Jada confirmed: “We live separately.”

When asked why she had maintained this unique arrangement, the 52-year–old actor continued: “I think just not being ready yet.

“Still trying to figure out between the two of us how to be in a partnership, and in regards to how do we present that to people, you know?

“And we hadn’t figured that out.”

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor said that Jada’s memoir ‘kind of woke him up’ and he realized she is more ‘resilient, clever and compassionate than he’d understood’.

“When you’ve been with someone for more than half of your life a sort of emotional blindness sets in, and you can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties,” he wrote.

In her interview with Hoda, Jada also spoke about the infamous 2022 Oscars incident, where Will attacked Chris Rock onstage and said, ‘Keep my wife’s name out of your f**king mouth,’ after the comedian called Jada ‘G.I. Jane’.

However, the slap wasn’t the most shocking moment for her.

Instead, she has revealed that she was most surprised by Will referring to her as ‘his wife’ — something he hadn’t called her in years.

“First of all, I’m really shocked, because mind you, I’m not there. We haven’t called each other husband and wife in a long time,” she said.

“I’m like, ‘What is going on right now? Keep my wife’s name out of your mouth?’ I’m really worried for Will because I don’t know what’s going on.”

Jada’s new memoir will be released October 17.
