Bob was found in April 2019 with various injuries, so he was given shelter by RSPCA. From the very beginning the rescuers could tell that Bob needed help with copying with some things before he could be released to a forever home. But Bob and his trainers worked very hard and were confident that the perfect family for him is anywhere out there.

That was 2 years ago. Bob has now been waiting in the shelter since 775 days for somebody to adopt him.

But in the last 2 years the chances for Bob to get adopted were basically not good. The pandemic started exactly when Bob finally overcame many of his behavioral problems and was ready to get adopted. It was much harder for him to get to know a potential family. Now where the restrictions have been loosened a bit, Bob is always getting overlooked for dogs that are said to be handled easier.

Since he was given shelter by RSPCA Bob has watched 221 other dogs getting adopted and finding a forever home. All he wishes for is finding a perfect family which loves him, and with that he’s not asking for too much.

“We’ve been working with Bob for a long time to prepare him for a forever home and then the lockdown started, which hindered us from finding him a new home for him”, said Jake Cowing, an employee of RSPCA, in a news release. “He’s such a lovely boy with a great character and I deeply hope that we will find a perfect family for him”.

Walking on a leash and being in a box has always been very scaring to Bob. RSPCA believes, that in his past somebody tried teaching him those things wrongly and that therefore Bob doesn’t like those things anymore.

After much work Bob has now the ability to walk on a long leash, but he still prefers running freely every time it’s possible. Therefore, his rescuers hope that they will find a family with a big garden where he can run around freely as much as he wants.

Bob doesn’t only need a family which is aware of his leash problems and ready to work on that, but also it would be the best if he would find a home with only adults. Apart from that he only wants to be loved.

“When we met him, we noted that he is such a lovely dog”, Cowing said. “He is very friendly and loves playing around. As soon as he trusts you, he is the most loyal companion and friend you will ever find”.

Bob has worked so hard on overcoming his fears, now he only wants to find a family which understands him and his past. RSPCA is more than ready to cooperate with Bob’s new family and to help them with every new training that Bob might need. All he really needs is a family which is ready to give him a chance.

“Two years are a long time – and Bob spent more than two-thirds of his life in shelters”, Cowing said. “We did our best, but we desperately want to see him in his own home with somebody who gives him the life he deserves!

He overcame a hard past and today he is our champion, a true survivor and our friend. He’s a big goofy clown, who will change the life of his adopter. And everyone who gives him shelter will surely as well change Bob’s life”.
