The dog fasted for 7 days to stay with his friend trapped in the well until they were both rescued. Poverty, cold, fear and selfishness cannot overcome love.

If someone thinks that animals live according to the “law of the jungle”, for survival purposes, prioritizing their own interests and needs first, that thought is not true; at least in the story below about the loyal friendship between Tillie and Phoebe dogs.

Tillie and Phoebe are best friends, living in the same house on Vashon Island, USA. In one walk, two dogs walked out of the house; and the worst part was that Phoebe had fallen into a shallow well a few miles from their house.

Although the well wasn’t deep enough to endanger Phoebe’s life; it couldn’t get out either. Meanwhile, Tillie had no other way to help her friend; the only thing she could do was to be with Phoebe and seek rescue for… 7 days in a row.

Poverty, cold, fear and selfishness cannot overcome the love they have for each other.

The owner’s family was worried when the two dogs were not home at night so they contacted the Vashon Island Pet Protection Association. The volunteers searched the island for days; but they found no trace of the two dogs.

After about a week of searching, they finally got a lead. Amy Carey, a Animal Welfare Society rescue worker, said the rescue team received information that; a farmer in the area had noticed a red-brown dog on his property. He said the dog was quietly approaching him; and when he realized it and paid attention to it, it turned towards a nearby ravine.

Amy decided to go check on the situation. And that’s when she discovered the most moving thing:

“When I got there and looked down at the ravine, Tillie saw me but it didn’t run up. It was only near the edge of the well, and then he put his head down very close to the mouth of the well. It was clearly a signal that I had to get close to it in order to see something; and suddenly it was his friend. ”

It was the kindness and devotion to friendship in a dog that saved a life.

Not long after, Amy discovered Phoebe’s dog stuck in the bottom of the well; she understood everything. Amy went on to say, “When I saw what was happening, my tears came out immediately. How touching!”.

Amy witnessed the kindness and devotion of friendship in a dog. For a week there was nothing to eat but a little rain water to drink; Tillie persisted in being with her friends and trying to get help from people.

The dog is aware that the fate of his poor friend is in his hands; and if he leaves you to return home, the chances of finding Phoebe are almost uncertain.

After a week of living in the wild, two dogs fasted for seven days in a row, but they were amazingly healthy. Although they eat almost nothing, they can survive waiting for help.

Two dogs rejoiced to be reunited with their master.

Amy recounts the two dogs’ reunion with their families:

“When we were rescued, we were delighted. Tillie alone is very relieved. When you hear the voice of the owner from a distance, you can see their joy. It’s touching, but it doesn’t surprise us because what we’ve always known about dogs is great loyalty. We feel very happy when they are safely rescued. ”
