Elephants and buffaloes are both herbivores, however, due to their large size and erratic temperament, they are classified as the most giant and dangerous animals in Africa.

There is a term “Big Five” used to refer to the five most respected animals in Africa. These are not simply the 5 largest mammals, but also the most dangerous and ferocious animals in Africa.

This can be clearly seen in the five names on the list: elephant, lion, leopard, rhinoceros and African buffalo.

Elephants in the wild in Africa not only have large bodies but are also extremely intelligent animals. According to research by scientists, elephants are one of the 10 most intelligent animals in the world.

Both large and highly intelligent, elephants are therefore classified by hunters and people in Africa as one of the Big Five (5 types of large hunting animals). The Big Five animals are chosen not because of their large size but because of their danger and difficulty in hunting.

It can be seen that elephants are animals that are respected and feared by all species.

Meanwhile, the wild buffalo (Synceros caffer) is one of the largest animals in Africa, ranked in the “Big Five”, the group of the most dangerous animals in this land.

An adult buffalo has a body length of 2.1-3 m; Body weight can reach 500 kg to 1,000 kg. The most recognizable feature of the buffalo is the pair of horns fused at the angular base, forming a continuous bony shield called a “hump”.

Unlike the gentle and somewhat shy nature of the Asian water buffalo, the African wild buffalo has never been domesticated.

Therefore, although they are herbivores, wild buffaloes have an aggressive and fierce temperament, and in many cases they are even ready to fight off the fiercest predators.

According to statistics, every year African wild buffaloes cause about 200 killings. Even hunters have to be wary of them because once injured, wild buffalo will become agitated and attack anyone near it.

Also herbivores, in the “Big Five” group there are also African forest elephants. Normally, wild buffaloes rarely dare to act aggressively in front of elephants because of their physical disadvantage and rarely compete for food. However, in wild nature, nothing is impossible.

A clip taken by tourists near the Crocodile Bridge in Kruger National Park, South Africa will give us a humorous, exciting scene of the encounter between these two giant animals.

Accordingly, a young and inexperienced elephant, with a habit of often bullying other animals, was about to “tease” a mature, mature wild buffalo.

Unlike usual, this time the opponent proved to be too tough and did not have the slightest intention of juggling its game. At this point, the elephant realized his mistake and tried to calm the atmosphere.
