Thousands of puppies are abandoned every day by unconscious people, leaving them adrift and prone to any kind of abuse. Fortunately, a young woman decided to save a life by rescuing an abandoned malnourished puppy.
Elliot Sherin is a 17-year-old girl who lives in Washington, United States, who attended a cruise with her family. In the middle of their vacations, determined to live new experiences, they went to a horseback riding ranch and it was in that precise place that the young woman fell in love with a stray puppy.
The first thing they saw when they arrived at the ranch was a pack of abandoned dogs, but none of those animals caught Elliot’s attention, only an early puppy who was scared and isolated from the others, covered in dirt with his paws. bent front, wounds all over his snout and in a state of regrettable malnutrition.
Sherin, realizing the state of the canine, immediately decided that she should take it with her , but first she had to organize everything to be able to do it. Upon returning to the cruise, the young woman told her decision to her parents, who at first did not agree with her plan, but later accepted only if she paid all the expenses that the rescue would entail.
With a predetermined idea in mind, Elliot contacted Animal House Jamaica to help her save Kingston’s life, the name with which the canine was baptized. She reached an agreement with the rescuers of the group, they notified her that they would support her only if the ranch staff captured the dog and transferred it to her support center.
Fortunately, the ranch staff did their part after the young woman insisted for three weeks. Kingston was safe in the shelter, where she had adequate care by rescuers and veterinarians , and all this thanks to the perseverance and struggle of this lady.
“ At first people were not very interested in helping me. I went back to my house, but I kept insisting. When they managed to rescue him, he was really malnourished and badly treated. The vets said his legs were bowed due to calcium deficiency from not having a proper diet. We had to keep him in the shelter for a few months to get him fit to fly ,” Sherin said.
Due to the calcium deficit that affects his motor area, Kingston’s family must be aware of his recovery, since if it does not evolve, he will have to use support orthopedic devices.
Fulfilling her responsibilities, the young woman organized an online fundraiser , asking for donations to help Kingston and thus save her life. Managing to raise about 900 dollars, she was able to cover the trip to her puppy’s new home and the leftover money she donated to the rescue center , as a way of thanking them for all the care they gave her friend.

When Kingston got home, the family was nervous about what their attitudes would be like through this new life. Fortunately, the canine arrived in great shape, ready to be showered with love and attention, and to share his new home with his older brother Bentley, a 6-year-old Labrador.
The dog is currently 8 months old. He lives a great life with his family, napping on the couch or snuggled up with his owners and playing in the dog park and eating all the treats he wants. He is healthy thanks to all the care that Elliot and his parents have given him.
“You could tell that he was so hungry for attention. He just wanted someone to love him and relate to him. Kingston opened my eyes to so many things. I am grateful and so is he,” Elliot said.
